AstraZeneca Submits Seroquel XR in Europe for the Treatment of Major Depressive Disorder -MDD

AstraZeneca Submits Seroquel XR in Europe for MDD. - MedWorks Media, BrainScienceBlogs.

"This follows a supplementary New Drug Application (sNDA) submission for SEROQUEL XR in MDD in the U.S. in February this year."

"Studies have shown at least one-third of patients fail to achieve a satisfactory response with current antidepressant therapy. SEROQUEL XR is the first atypical antipsychotic medicine to be submitted in Europe for approval for the treatment of MDD. AstraZeneca has investigated its use in MDD as a potential new treatment option for patients who do not respond adequately to current treatments.

Data from eight randomised placebo-controlled studies of quetiapine XR at once-daily doses of 50, 150 and 300 mg in patients diagnosed with MDD support the submission announced today. These include four short-term monotherapy studies involving 2116 patients; two short-term adjunct therapy studies (with ongoing antidepressant therapy) involving 939 patients who had an inadequate response to prior antidepressant therapy; a longer-term monotherapy maintenance study involving 1,854 patients and up to 78 weeks of treatment; and a further short-term study involving 338 elderly patients."

It's an antipsychotic with a black box warning for diabetes, and it was designed for psychosis and schizophrenia.

It is alarming how fast the antipsychotics are coming down the pipeline for mainstream use for depression and generalized anxiety disorder. These are powerful, mind-altering drugs, that have the potential in my opinion to do more harm than good.

Figures show that 6% of kids who are given anti-depressants become psychotic.

So it is no wonder the use of anti-psychotics has soared, too.

P$ychiatry is up to its neck in the most heinous crimes imaginable.

I just read an old article from '99 about Theodore Kaczynski, the so-called Unabomber.

It turns out Kaczynski was a MKULTRA mind control victim.

Kaczynski had been drugged by CIA psychiatrists and turned into a Manchurian Candidate - a programmed killer.

See here.

It is suspected that Ian Huntley, the so-called Soham Killer, also had his mind blown by shrinks working for Her Majesty's intelligence apparatus.

In fact, the Daily Telegraph, dubbed the in-house magazine of MI5, acknowledged on its front page the crucial role played by Rampton "Special Hospital" in helping to shape Ian Huntley into the mould of a serial child killer.

Eventually, once the electroshock and drugs administered in Rampton had overwhelmed his senses, Huntley himself started to believe he was a killer.

P$ychiatry no doubt chalked that up as another magnificent victory.

Hehehe! Amazing how they contradict themselves. In search for ADDs they claim that "depression is caused by a chemical imbalance blah blah blah... and SSRIs balance the brain... blablahblah"

I take 200 mg Seroquel. I was put on 600 and could only withdraw 400 mg.
It only made harm.

Sloopy,
Thank you for the links.
"It turns out that Theodore Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber, was a volunteer in mind-control experiments sponsored by the CIA at Harvard in the late 1950s and early 1960s."

I fear Seroquel starts being sold only in the XR version as it has happened to Effexor and I felt the difference. I use the common one. I believe if I take XR Seroquel I will also feel the changes.
They don't even leave us room to choose!

This is all bollox - one can't accurately change somebody's wiring with these snake oil remedies. And if they can't be relied upon to do what they are being prescribed for, then what use are they?

Warning: ANGRY rant follows.
"These are powerful, mind-altering drugs, that have the potential in my opinion to do more harm than good."

But its ok to force them on the (dangerous[I'm being sarcastic]) schizophrenic/seriously mentally ill because they deserve it for misbehaving/Need the medication for their brain chemical imbalance illness.

Seroquel Side Effects said...

My name is Paul Harris and i would like to show you my personal experience with Seroquel.

I am 47 years old. Have been on Seroquel for 2 weeks now. I would NOT recommend this drug to anyone except those who only want to sleep all the time. Very poor!

I have experienced some of these side effects-
This drug knocks you out. Slept 17 hours with 200 mg dose the first time. Even 100 mg. makes me tired, dizzy, clouded mind, slurred speach and etc. all day.

I hope this information will be useful to others,
