Internal documents that AstraZeneca didn't want the public to view while in federal court are now available for viewing at the mental health news blog, authored by investigative reporter Philip Dawdy, Furious Seasons. The link to download the documents is in this article.
One document found in this article at Furious Seasons discusses Dr.Michael J. Reinstein, a Chicago psychiatrist who was one of the company's paid consultants for Seroquel, earning $40,000 a year for 10 years to promote Seroquel among doctors.
According to the documents, Reinstein's clinic was one of the top 5 Seroquel prescribers at that time.
Read the documents with great interest, and consider that Seroquel sales were $4.5 billion dollars in 2008.
These documents are evidence in federal court, which speaks for itself. Read them, and wonder just who is minding the store---and your life when it comes to taking the antipsychotic(no it is not an antidepressant!)Seroquel, or the extended release version, Seroquel XR. There's a black box warning for diabetes for the drug, and AstraZeneca knew that risk existed before the box warning was placed on the drug and thousands of innocent people became diabetic as a result of the use of this drug.
If you have personal stories about the use of Seroquel, write about them.

Thanks for the update Stephany. I hope they don't come over to my blog they would probably eat all the candy. How are you feeling after your 4 mile walk?
A few months ago, the Nurse Practioner I see, gave me Seroquel to help me sleep It was horrible. I felt like all pathways in my brain were going haywire. I had the worse nightmare, so vivid, the whole week I took it. Plus, in the morning I was totally out of it. The effects just lingered for most of the day. I went off after a week. She put me on Trazadone and Ambien, plus a muscle relaxer. I sleep, actually it is more like passing out.
I will never forget how horrible seroquel made me feel. I going to ask H. new doctor to get her off it, she is gaining so much weight. M. did too, when she took it years ago. She gained 80 pounds, within a 5 month period.
Thanks for the info. on this site.
XXXXX
I wish I could blame Seroquel for all my chocolate cravings, but unfortunately I stopped taking it many months ago.
Mark, quit being so stingy with your stupid candy.
I was given Seroquel to take every night or on an as needed basis for sleep. I took it for less than a week and stopped because just 12.5 mg knocked me out for an entire day. I didn't feel safe driving and all I wanted to do was sleep.
Stephany,
The more comments I hear about this drug the more I am happy I never started taking it. What bothers me the most about it is that my Doc gave me a prescription knowing how sensitive I am to drugs anyway. The last thing I need to do is gain weight not even counting the other side effects.
AstraZeneca is probably using your site to find out what side effects their drug does have.Maybe had they checked it out a little longer they wouldn't be having the problems with lawsuits like they are having now.
Well, they hid data that shows they knew about the side effects way back in 2000 or 2001, something. They're in it for pure profit. The drug reps were ordered to LIE to doctors...and that doctor in Illinois was paid 40K a year for making sure Seroquel was in a top 5 rx slot for astrazeneca (they paid him off)How sleazy is this? not to forget the Wayne MacFadden being a basic prostitute for inside information! It reads like a novel! Sex, greed, crime and money...who needs Lifetime movies! they've written the script!
thanks for posting this, Stephany. As a former Seroquel patient, well, this just pisses me off. it saddens me and a whole host of other emotions. If I wasn't sick, I'd write more, just wanted to say thanks for posting.
