“Full professor,” he answered.
“What’s after that?” asked a lawyer, Fletch Trammell.
“God,” Dr. Biederman responded.
“Did you say God?” Mr. Trammell asked.
“Yeah,” Dr. Biederman said.
From the NY Times article: (via Furious Seasons blog and Bob Fiddaman-Seroxat(paxil)Sufferers blog
"An influential Harvard child psychiatrist told the drug giant Johnson & Johnson that planned studies of its medicines in children would yield results benefiting the company, according to court documents dating over several years that the psychiatrist wants sealed."
and
"The psychiatrist, Dr. Joseph Biederman, outlined plans to test Johnson & Johnson’s drugs in presentations to company executives. One slide referred to a proposed trial in preschool children of risperidone, an antipsychotic drug made by the drug company. The trial, the slide stated, “will support the safety and effectiveness of risperidone in this age group.”
Dr. Biederman was the lead author of a trial published last year concluding that treatment with risperidone improved symptoms of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder in bipolar children.
Dr. Joseph Biederman — who was director of the Johnson & Johnson Center for Pediatric Psychopathology Research at Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston — is in the middle of two controversies: one involves the use of antipsychotic drugs in children, and the other relates to conflicts of interest in medicine. Dr.Joseph Biederman pocketed without reporting--million or so dollars--of pharma money and Senator Grassley is investigating.
I have detailed abstracts and other information in my Childhood Bipolar evolution of a diagnosis series. It contains the 1999 drug trial in question and I started this series to show how my daughter's misdiagnosis that started from a bed wetting pill to OCD to Childhood Bipolar in 1999. She is a poster child for drugs gone wrong from a diagnosis created by Biederman, for-- in my opinion--his personal gain, profit and apparent "I am a doctor, may as well be God" syndrome.

This disturbs me far, far more than anyone, who in an extreme state of mind think they're God, or something. Because this guy means it. Literally.
If anyone, it's his kind who should be doped up over their eyeballs with Risperdal.
Dear Steph:
Post I left at Fid's blog and pertains to this one also:
So will the real God please stand up!
Biederman as God:
1. All little boys would have boobs
2. Everyone would take heavy duty mind pills
3. All drugs studies would have checks made out to him personally
4. Thinks Harvard is where God goes to get important information
God:
1. Sends Biederman and like beings to burning lake of fire for being a blasphemer and then books them in for eternity.
2. She made people the way she did for good reason {I gather God has a great sense of humor}
3. If placed on witness stand; God would strike all lawyers dead with lightening bolts for being so precocious
I guess there is a little difference, and God would win in the end.
Stan
