The U.S.A. FDA cannot be trusted, the drug approval process is tainted

FDA conflicted interests, paying doctors to sell Seroquel.

Due to the latest breaking news of the child psychiatrist that has been on the FDA advisory board since October of 2005, being paid by AstraZeneca to talk to doctors about prescribing Seroquel, it is of my concern and opinion to say there is no trust left from me, as a parent and consumer regarding the FDA watching out for my health via there reckless drug approvals, my daughter and myself have been irreversibly harmed, damaged and traumatized from taking drugs that have been padded with cooked data, and hidden data that jeopardized our health.

America needs to have a wake up call and this is it. The fact that the FDA has had a paid spokesman on their approval advisory committee, and was in fact STILL ON IT FOR THIS WEEK'S DISCUSSION ON THE APPROVAL OF ASTRAZENECA'S SEROQUEL XR for depression and anxiety is criminal.

No one should tolerate this behavior, it is completely unacceptable.

Do you trust the committee now? the only reason that the child psychiatrist, the CHAIR of the committee isn't going to participate is because findings just came out!

He was, with alleged clean conscious going to chair the committee, with AstraZeneca pay offs under his belt do you wonder if Seroquel XR would have been approved for depression and anxiety?

These people need to be fired, removed and jailed at minimum. Your life is at stake and look who's in charge!!

Applying for Membership on FDA Advisory Committees:

As part of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) ongoing efforts to recruit qualified experts with minimal conflicts of interest who are interested in serving on FDA advisory committees, FDA is requesting nominations for members to serve on its advisory committees.

Introduction

Any interested person may nominate one or more qualified persons for one or more of the advisory committees or advisory panels. Self-nominations are also accepted. FDA has a special interest in ensuring that women, minority groups, and individuals with disabilities are adequately represented on its advisory committees and, therefore, encourages nominations of qualified candidates from these groups.

Potential candidates will be required to provide detailed information concerning such matters as financial holdings, employment, and research grants and/or contracts to permit evaluation of possible sources of conflict of interest.(FDA website)

Senator Grassley

Senator Grassley's blog:

"Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, also has been looking into the financial relationships between drug companies and doctors, and he advocates legislations that would require drug companies to publicly report the money they give to doctors for activities such as consulting, travel, speeches and meals. Grassley feels the public has a right to know about the financial relationships between doctors, researchers and the people who stand to profit by their expert advice. He's right. Medical providers and medical suppliers should be held to the same high ethical standards - by statute if necessary." The Cedar Rapids Gazette editorial, Tuesday, February 3, 2009

"He Twitters. He blogs. He's on Facebook. He's also Iowa's 75-year-old senior Sen. Charles Grassley." Iowa Ear, Des Moines Register, Thursday, December 4, 2008
