heaven and earth

Why make so much of fragmentary blue

In here and there a bird, or butterfly,

Or flower, or wearing-stone, or open eye,

When heaven presents in sheets the solid hue?

Since earth is earth, perhaps, not heaven (as yet)--

Though some savants make earth include the sky;

And blue so far above us comes so high,

It only gives our wish for blue a whet.

today i went out with my daughter, the day was sunny though last night was quite a thunderstorm. i painted the painting in the photo this evening, and then took the dog on a walk. right when i was leaving it started raining but the sun was out and it was wherever the clouds were as they blew overhead. walked around a frog pond and the dog charged toward something in the bushes and it was a cute little cottontail bunny. my daughter ate inside mcdonalds today which is good, she has been able to eat in these places and sits at a table with me, where before she wouldn't want to eat inside and would pace at the park, etc. it's seriously the first time in a couple of years that she has been consistently eating at a table with me. sounds like a long time, and it has been a long time. slow progress, and if anything it's just "being" and allowing her to be. when i was driving out of the parking lot where my daughter lives i saw her (not typical)standing in the doorway looking at me. i waved. i don't know what she wanted. those are the things that i have a hard time with and work on --not worrying. i enjoyed my walk this evening, it really is a great outlet, i love the fragrance in the air, i love the half moon shining brightly in the evening sky while the clouds are highlighted in pink hues from the sunset. the trees are lush with new spring green leaves and there are flowers everywhere in the woods on trees, amazing. we've walked through autumn, winter and spring and it is truly magnificent to have these images of beauty in my mind forever.

Are you still mad at me because I haven't sent you a sample of that meat sauce? I see Koda has been demoted to being a "dog" again.

It's good to see your daughter is still progressing some.
