she talked: "Mom"

today we took my daughter to the zoo and in the car, i heard a voice and a word i haven't heard in years from her:

"Mom!"

"bath-room"

we were driving. i couldn't believe it when i heard it, it was magnificent. she had fun at the zoo, her favorite things to look at today seemed to be the reptiles. it was a great day, they just keep building on each other one day at a time. brilliant!

addendum: why this was new and signifcant to me, is because she will say "hello" when i call her to tell her i'm coming to see her, i tell her what time etc and then she says "bye". she hasn't talked to me in person in so long, that this was a "wow" moment. i know i might not hear that again, which is the sobering part, like how i started to forget her voice. but it gives hope that things could get better for her as they are ever so slowly.

I've a suspicion, there will be more and more of these surprises to come, at the most unlikely moments.

And then at the Least likely of moments, you know: when you completely exhausted and wanting nothing more in the whole world than a good night's sleep, the dam's going to break, ..... and she'll talk your ear off.

That's wonderful news Stephany.
