it's a warm summer day, actually 90 degrees outside. i took my daughter out after she signed for her allowance. she had a very positive week this week and we are looking forward to her oldest sister flying here to see her this weekend! she has interacted with expressions on her face and she smiled a lot this week. i have literally had to train myself to stop and find the small victories and embrace them for my own peace of mind, and that is not easy, as a mom. or as me, whoever i am, whatever i am. i've been given a blank canvas in life and need to paint it, brightly now.
it's all about one day at a time-- with that in mind, please go celebrate with Herrad! she has been a portrait of patience, and inspiration while waiting nearly one year! to be able to go outside, after suffering an enormous setback with a pressure sore, while embracing a fast and furious onset of MS --she has the clearance from the in home nurse to prepare to sit up and go out. Herrad is looking forward to:
"....hang out on the terrace and enjoy a fruit smoothie and a piece of James special cake.It is a wonderful cake looks like it it tie dyed; it is wonderful looking and tastes delicious, a real Caribbean cake."

Herrad and her husband are true inspirations to never giving up, though the days can be grueling. Herrad often wakes in severe pain, and Richie takes on the task as caregiver. Their love as a couple is an amazing thing to witness via reading a blog, and I hold the two close to my heart.

Herrad, I will rejoice with you the day you get outside, just to close your eyes, take a deep breath and open your eyes again to the world you've only heard for a very long time. I hope the dogs can kick up their heels with you too! Hooray! Thank you, Herrad for always encouraging me to keep on going, from you that feels like asking far too much, you are really a gift. The photo is of a rainbow in my backyard. The last year, for me has been going back into the 'real world' too. it's been really amazing.

One day at a time.... I have to constantly remind myself that.... What a beautiful photo.
Hi Stephany,
This is much appreciated thanks darling.
You too are an inspiration.
Have a good day.
Love,
Herrad
I think your daughter is doing well. No revolving door back and forth to the hospital.
"A study on recidivism in the psychiatric emergency room"
"Over a 7-month period, 400 (18%) of 2212 patients were repeat visitors"
I hope speaking of the d__il, doesn't alert him/her.
thanks Mark, I think so too; that day at the place i said that to the flowerbasket-watering staff woman. exactly those words. she has not been in the hosp for the longest run now in 3 years. and that's the greatest thing of all, that (i think)the longer she is out of them and away from that she will get better and better. goal is to never have her be in a hosp again. it's been 21 months now w/out a hosp! and that last hosp doc said "no hope". she has proven him wrong for 21 months.
I would say cherish every happy moment, but then it seems you already do and dont need me to tell you.
Beautiful picture.
I'll visit Herrad, thank you for the link.
Love,
Ana
