Senator Patty Murray supports the Mother's Act, takes $156,050 from Big Pharma

The MOTHERS ACT

"I'm just a mom in tennis shoes", i said as the reporter interviewed me for an on camera news story. as a community activist for a variety of topics, i used Senator Patty Murray's quote many times.

i stood in tennis shoes fighting for the safety in vehicles, on local streets, for air quality and a defunct women's basketball team. i saw that my voice could in fact be heard. It was heard, and i contributed to many positive outcomes as a result of my speaking out. i saw results.

Patty Murray was in a way an inspiration, maybe even a role model to me because of her famous quote, and willingness to use her voice, to be heard, imagine, "just a mom" having so much influence.

i stood in mental health court many times fighting for my daughter and being her voice using the "mom in tennis shoes" quote. ( though someone once said about my advocacy,"she kicks down doors, as if she's wearing steel-toed boots." i like that.)

why talk about the woman Senator from Washington state now?

Because Patty Murray supports the Mothers Act.

The bill that supports the screening and drugging of mothers for post partum depression. PhMRA lobbies congress with $1.2 million dollars per day, and basically has a stranglehold on the FDA, the drug approval process and our lives as Americans.

What role should a drug industry play in the Government? why is the pharmaceutical industry so vested in our elected officials?

They have a market they do not want to lose, and we are the target, you are the target. The MOTHERS ACT is just one example of how forced screening and consequent drugging of people can happen. Before you know it, you'll be on an antipsychotic for Schizophrenia such as Seroquel, and it will be prescribed as a anti depressant. AstraZeneca's leading seller at over $4 million dollars a year, is being dosed out for insomnia, SZ, bipolar, depression, anxiety and more. Some off label, always on the up and up, right? it's approved by the FDA so it must be safe, right?

The drug company concealed data that proves they knew it had diabetes and weight gain as a side effect and marketed it anyway, just like Lilly's Zyprexa.

Patty Murray does not represent me. She does not stand as a mom in tennis shoes in front of a mental health court judge defying a court order by a doctor to send her 19 year old to the state's notorious Western State Hospital, to reside for long term care, locked away and forgotten and forcibly drugged. ( i was successful in helping prevent that discharge plan)

Patty Murray does not represent me. If the Mothers Act was a couple of decades or so ago:

As a mom of 3 without depression post partum depression, i would have been screened for something that didn't apply, and if i was placed on anti depressants that could have harmed unborn babies and passed through breast milk. Paxil in breast milk isn't healthy to say the least.

I have my own voice, i'm just a mom in tennis shoes, and i stand up for not drugging mothers and children with psychotropic drugs.

"Big Pharma owns the U.S. Senate

What's clear from this vote is that the majority of U.S. Senators do not represent the interests of the people. Backed by Big Pharma reelection campaign money, our lawmakers are acting to directly enforce a Big Pharma monopoly at the expense of the public. While the exact same medications are available from Canada, Europe and other countries for nearly half the price paid in the United States, U.S. consumers will continue to be forced to pay monopoly prices on their medications thanks to the great U.S. Senate sellout to Big Pharma."

2009

Seattle reporter and mental health blogger Philip Dawdy breaks the news on his blog that Big Pharma has a television ad thanking Patty Murray for work on health care reform, and that she accepted $ $156,050 from pharma since 2005.

Do you ever research the elected officials that use their voice representing yours?

The Mother's Act disease mongering campaign by Evelyn Pringle:

"The Mothers Act campaign has operated under the guise of helping women suffering from postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis to develop a new industry, complete with specialties like, "reproductive psychiatry," or "reproductive mental health," with a plan to "screen" and "treat" women of childbearing years for a long list of "perinatal" mental disorders, to financially benefit psychiatric drug makers, as well as the treatment providers and "experts" in the new self-created field."- David Healy

Dr. Doug Bremner opposes the Mother's Act:

"I don’t think is a good idea because it medicalizes a normal stage of life, increases the chances that people will be but on antidepressant medications that they may not need and that may have side effects, and represents yet another intrusion into privacy." -Doug Bremner

Senator Kennedy - due to his own health issues - is calling for a Change in Mass State Law to allow their Governor to appoint his replacement, rather than allowing his constituents to hold a special Election to decide for themselves.

That kind of tells us what our Imperial Senate thinks of Themselves and Their Agenda taking precedence over the Voters, now Doesn't it?
