today was the second afternoon outing, where 22 acres of open space of freedom to pet all the dogs in the world you want to, walking across meadows with old trees, and admiring ducks and geese on a lake. top it off with ice cream and you have one of the best days in the last 5 months for my daughter.
with permission from the doctor and team, she now has regular outings with us scheduled, and yes there was a lot of smiling today from all of us.
just across the street, is wide open space, where we walked along the old farm buildings that used to be the dairy farm patients worked at "in the old days".
it now boasts a unleashed dog park. guess what dog will be going on a day pass soon? today, my daughter met lots of dogs, pet them and all i can say it this was the best day! when the doctor asked her what days she wanted to go out on..."friday, saturday, sunday, monday". you go girl, you go!

this is so wonderful.
Reading this made my day, Stephany.
Yea!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story.
This is wonderful Stephany! With all this ongoing positive news, they must finally have Lindsay on the right medication. I'm so happy for you both. I have always felt that the best things in life are free. And it can often be the simple things in life that bring us pleasure.
Part of the process is removing meds, one is already gone (one that prior hospital added for no reason)eventually, she will most likely be off of all medications, under doctor's care.
I totally believe in looking at sunsets etc to clear the mind, have done it my entire life, if you can look at beauty, it remains when a person closes their eyes, and in a place like that institution, it is needed for sure.
This now, is continuing process, of appropriate care and doctors (not just psychiatrist) for her future, so it's one day at a time while its being worked out.
I think they should be very careful in what medications they give to adolesents. If Lindsy can go without the meds that will be wonderful. I wish my son could go without his medication.
thats great news. Enjoy
