this is what she was able to view on the outing.
the scent of the sea air and the late afternoon sun were the backdrop.
this is the beginning of building up confidence and inner strength.
this is healing power at work, beyond the locked psychiatric ward doors.
it was a good day.

This is Lindsay's victory, one small beautiful step toward this unveiling journey of endless possibilities.
Without the efforts, letter writing, and voices of hope out there; this day would not have come this soon, if ever.
I would hope everyone that has put effort forth would take the time for a well earned self pat on the back this day. It's richly deserved.
Tomorrow is yet another new day with more bridges to cross and different challenges to meet.
For in this moment it's time to stop, breath a sigh of relief, and just enjoy the view.
Yay!
Awesome and here's to more good days!

I think a certain amount of credit is due to WSH. I mean, to you and I, the decision to allow Lindsay freshair time *as a right*, along with accompanied offsite passes, might have been an easy one to make. But some people would have dug their heels in and said something to the effect of "the rules are the rules - you have to earn your perks".
The next bit is more difficult... Getting Linds out of the ward on a regular basis was a complete no-brainer, or so events have proved, anyway. But what does one do, next, in order to maintain this progress? Get her interested in reading or music, again, or would that be too much of a challenge, as yet? Or something completely new that she might show an interest in, in due course?
Lindsay's probably going to be leading this, Stephany, because it has to be done at her pace, I think - it's a fine balance between too much/not enough stimuli, but she'll know precisely where that balance is. Anyway, bask in the moment - when's the next one?!
Matt
it's definitely being left (by us primarily)to her own pace.
PS-- probably thursday...another meeting and planning and defining a schedule.
isn't that a great view of the water? who knew that was just a few minutes away from that place.
LOTS of dogs across the street also, at the old farm now a 22 acre dog park...
I was just looking on Google maps... Is that the stretch of water known as Puget Sound? And it's within, what, 50km of two national forests and a national park? They really ought to make use of those kind of facilities - daytrips, and whatnot.
Matt
Stephany this is wonderful news! I'm so happy for you and Lindsay.
Nice picture!
built in dog therapy across the street where the old farm used to be....makes sense to me and it was fantastic seeing my daughter pet dogs today, totally brilliant.
