"I know I told you this before, but I might not have lately, you're my hero"

i said, to my daughter as we walked back into the building after our Sunday outing today. everyone was excited about her day at the movies yesterday, it's great to see her smiling. i also told her, because i truly mean it, that she is inspirational. Seeing her take action and begin to participate in life after so many years truly is inspiring to me as a human being, not just a mom. she has exhibited a relentless spirit of not giving up, often subtle ways i knew she was in there, fighting her way back. appropriate placement was so imperative, and her response to it is so remarkable, that everyone should pay attention. to be tucked away in the mental health world while not belonging in it for so long, to see her now, is truly like watching a butterfly gracefully take flight. i'm privileged to watch.
